Afghanistan Watchdog Hires Veteran DOJ Prosecutor

Law360, New York (October 22, 2013, 6:39 PM ET) — The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction said Monday that it had hired a veteran Department of Justice attorney to head up its investigations of fraud and corruption in Afghanistan.

The new hire, David Schwendiman, had previously prosecuted war crimes in Bosnia and served as the Justice attache for the U.S. Embassy in Kabul since 2011, SIGAR John Sopko said. Schwendiman will serve as the director of forward operations and will operate out of SIGAR’s Kabul headquarters.
