Panel event on use of private security companies in places of deprivation of liberty

The United Nations Working Group on the use of mercenaries as a means of violating human rights and impeding the exercise of the right of peoples to self-determination, pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 33/4, has the honour of extending this invitation to all interested civil society organizations.

The Working Group is convening an expert panel on private security companies in places of deprivation of liberty, and their impact on human rights. This event will be held on Thursday, 27 April 2017 from 10:00 to 13:00 in Room XXVII, Palais des Nations, Geneva. Kindly find attached a concept note and an agenda of the panel event for your information. Interpretation will be available in English and Spanish.

For participants who would like to attend this event, kindly contact the Secretariat of the Working Group at mercenaries@ohchr.org, by Tuesday, 25 April 2017. Please indicate your affiliated organization and whether you will need accreditation to participate in this event. Kindly note that expenses for travel and accommodation concerning this event will not be covered by the Working Group or the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
