Abstract:

The article reports on the grounds and paradoxes of the role played by private military and security companies as legitimized partner for United Nations (UN) missions all over the world. Topics include the role of the UN to provide initiatives for post-conflict reconstruction and promote social and economic rehabilitation, the lack of comprehensive strategy for post-conflict environments, and the incursion of PMSC in the field of peacekeeping and humanitarian operations within the UN scheme.
